The MotoGP rider market is heating up, and it's a race against time for Aprilia's team boss, Massimo Rivola. With the 2027 season already on the horizon, rivals are making big-money moves to secure Aprilia's talented duo, Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin.
In a revealing statement, Rivola admitted that other teams are offering his riders lucrative deals, creating a sense of urgency. "I'd rather not rush into it, but the competition is moving swiftly, and I might have to act faster than I'd like," he said.
The rider market for 2027 is wide open, with only Honda and Yamaha having riders contracted beyond 2026. This leaves both Aprilia's bikes and riders up for grabs. While there's no official word on any 2027 agreements, the pressure is on for Rivola to secure his team's future.
"I know they're offering a lot of money to our riders," Rivola continued. "It's a commitment we need to make together. With Marco, we've started building something special, something that could make history. With Jorge, we're still at the beginning."
Bezzecchi, one of the standout riders of 2025, and Martin, who had a challenging first season with Aprilia due to injuries, are both in high demand. Martin, despite his setbacks, expressed confidence in himself and a desire to continue with Aprilia, stating, "I want to sign again. Performing well is the best way to make that happen."
However, Martin also emphasized the importance of focusing on the present, saying, "Today is not the day to talk about the market. We have an incredible bike and an amazing season ahead. For me, it's all about staying focused on myself and the 2026 season."
So, will Aprilia be able to keep its talented riders, or will the lure of big money prove too tempting? And what impact will this have on the future of MotoGP? These are questions that will keep fans and insiders alike on the edge of their seats as the rider market unfolds.
