John Cena's Creative Collaboration with Claudio Castagnoli for the Logan Paul Match
John Cena, the legendary wrestler, shared an intriguing story about his creative process for the match against Logan Paul. During his retirement tour, Cena wanted to incorporate some of his friend Claudio Castagnoli's (Cesaro in WWE) signature moves into the match. Despite not having a major rivalry with Claudio in WWE, they maintain a close friendship and are part of a coffee group chat with Seth Rollins.
In an interview with TJ Henderson & O'Shea Jackson Jr on No-Contest Wrestling, Cena revealed the behind-the-scenes collaboration with Claudio. He said, 'With Logan, he doesn’t have that many matches to go on. A lot of stuff he was doing was viral moments. I needed something more than that.' Cena then reached out to Claudio, requesting, 'Can I borrow some stuff, please? He’s part of the coffee group. No problem. I can’t be there. It would be an honor.'
Cena then instructed Logan to study Claudio's moves, sending him modified clips of the super European (uppercut), the giant swing, and other techniques he believed Logan could emulate. He humorously added, 'Take it from Five Moves of Doom, there is going to come a time where you need more stuff.'
The match resulted in Cena's victory, showcasing the successful collaboration between Cena and Claudio. Additionally, Cena mentioned that he was originally supposed to face Drew McIntyre during his retirement tour, which was later changed to AJ Styles.
